Clive Davis declared Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson to sing a few songs and then told the audience that Hudson would probably be enjoying Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic about the life of Queen of Soul. Hudson was actually hand picked by Franklin to perform the role. It was acceptable that Davis introduce this all, since he has such a long professional relationship with Franklin. The celebration started with performances by Barry Manilow, Luis Fonsi, Ben Platt, Alicia Keys, Khalid, and Logic. Hudson was the last singer to perform.
